The township is in the northeast part of Geauga County, about fifteen minutes from Chardon, Middlefield and Route 90. The Township was founded in 1812 with approximately twenty-five square miles of area and 15,534 acres. Today an estimated 1,991 residents reside in the township. The area has been recognized as one of the world’s International Dark Sky areas in the United States.

 

Our Township features:

  • Community Playground/Park: This park is owned and operated by the Montville Trustees, located behind the community center. It is a nice place to kick back and relax in the pavillion while the children enjoy  jungle gyms and a game of tag among the wooded area. Teens and adults can enjoy a game of sand volleyball. (Just bring a ball)!!
  • Pioneer Waterland & Dry Fun Park: This park operates 6-story high waterslides, a lazy river innertube ride, a 60ft. water obstacle course, paddleboats, water volleyball and basketball, a Kidsland and dry activities that include 18-hole miniature golf, air cannons, batting cages and a grand prix go-cart super track.   • Observatory Park: The park is operated by the Geauga Park District and consists of 1,100 acres. The park offers 6 walking trails totaling 3.97 miles. The park encourages visitors to “explore Nature from the ground to the galaxies” with interactive pods and stations, “life-sized cornerstones of the Great Pyramid of Giza, earthern mounds, henge stones and, via a woodland trail, access to the Nassau Astronomical Station.
